Individual therapy

While individual therapy can be for any and all reasons, we specialize in various forms of childhood emotional abuse or neglect, particularly parentification, as well as childhood sexual abuse. These can be confusing labels to apply to ourselves. An important part of therapy is figuring out who we are, how we got here, and where we’d like to go. This can include several labels, should we wish, but at the end of the day, it’s about the connection we’re able to make with our therapist, and if that can allow us to explore ourselves safely, deeply and in a way that feels stable and unthreatening to us.

Another important aspect of our work is supporting the bereaved, which can be a lonely and destabilizing journey.

Therapy is a mutual commitment - our most significant task in therapy is to show up for and with each other.

A little more about our work

Dr Chandra mostly only works with adults, and sometimes young adults. She specializes in parentification and similar forms of emotional abuse and neglect, and helping adults break the intergenerational cycle of such complex trauma. She also works with grief and bereavement. She offers individual and group therapy for both these specializations.

Dr Devgun works with adolescents and adults. She specializes in childhood sexual abuse and interpersonal violence. She also works with grief and bereavement. She also provides clinical supervision for mental health practitioners.

Process & duration

1

Fill the form.

We’ll get in touch with you for an introductory appointment.

2

Attend the intake session(s).

This is used to assess if you and the therapist are a good fit for each other. We will talk about what brings you to therapy, what you hope to gain from therapy and answer any questions you may have.

Sometimes, these can be 2 or 3 as well, depending on what’s coming up in the sessions.

3

Choose if you’d like to proceed.

We will discuss our mutual assessment and possibility of our work together. If we choose to proceed, we’ll set up a day and time that will repeat weekly.

Individual therapy can last for a few weeks to years - this is between you and your therapist to decide.

To schedule an introductory appointment, please fill out our contact form and we’ll be in touch.

If you’d rather just talk to us, drop us a line at support@kindspace.in. If you do, please remember to approve us into your inboxes. If you don’t hear from us, check your spam folder (because we always respond).

Other important information to note

We make every financial accommodation for those who come from disadvantaged (financially or otherwise) backgrounds. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you feel this is you. All are welcome.

Usually, we have a waiting list for individual patients. This is not something we’re happy about since no one should have to wait for finding a therapist. Get in touch - we’ll see you as soon as possible, or help you find someone else you can see.

We are not equipped to help you with psychiatric emergencies such as those involving self- or other-harm. Please contact your nearest hospital or police station if this is the case.

To schedule an appointment or a conversation, please get in touch with us via the contact form.
