Why this group

How do we make sense of something as painful as the death of a loved one?

Grief can be terribly heavy to bear, isolating, frustrating, maddening, even. It creates a divide between our inner worlds and the world outside, which seems to go on as though nothing was lost. It can be helpful to have a space to share with others who know exactly how we feel, support our grief, help us make sense of this new world we find ourselves in and think about what it means to continue to live.

In this group, we believe that there is no one way to grieve, or that grief does not follow a timeline, or that living on (not ‘moving on’) looks different for everyone.

The therapist

Dr Nivida Chandra: I have been working with grief and bereavement for several years, and carry loss myself. I approach therapy for grief as the space where you come to experience what it means to live without them, and begin to live with their memory instead.

I would like to welcome you into a therapeutic space which invites your anger, sadness, horror, confusion, helplessness, exhaustion and even hope & some humor. All of this is part of grief and grieving.

Process & duration

1

Get in touch.

Fill the form below, or respond to an invitation to join a group, or simply write to us with your interest. Group therapy always begins with the individual assessment of potential participants.

We’ll set up an intake interview with you.

2

We’ll get back to you.

You may have been in individual or group therapy with us or another therapist before this experience. We assess if it is the right time for you to transition to a group environment, and which group cohort will be the right fit for you. Once we complete our intake process, we’ll get in touch with you to talk about our assessment.

3

Choose if you’d like to proceed.

If you agree to join the group, we’ll help you with all the information you need – from login information to some rules and guidelines that will help you make the most of your sessions with us.

A group only begins if the assessments reveal that a therapeutically cohesive cohort is possible (3-4 members). This is difficult and sometimes despite you being a good fit, the group may not be able to begin. We will support you as you decide the next steps in your mental health journey.

Participants commit to the entire duration of the group.

This group may have people from different countries. A final decision on the day and time will be based on the best possible option that accommodates everyone.

If group therapy is a new experience for you, please consider reading more about it here.

(These are not support groups; rather, these are time-limited, therapeutic groups that are led by one or more therapists towards augmenting intrapsychic and relational facets of your journey. The highest standards of confidentiality are maintained even in group processes.)

To join this group, sign up via the intake form below & we’ll be in touch.

This is a 2 minute form. We want to know just a couple of things about you, so we can support you as best as we can.

ALL information given here will be kept strictly confidential and used ONLY for helping you decide on therapy at KindSpace.

We will be in touch with you soon after receiving your form.
